With shoppers paying a lot more on their food bills these days, most people are looking to make savings wherever they can.
Whether it's shopping around more, or opting for cheaper own brands, it can all help to keep costs down.
But one thing that savvy shoppers often swear by is to buy in bulk - especially if it's something you use a lot of.
That's why I decided to check out Lidl's XXL limited offer buys this week to see what savings I could make.
Obviously it's only worth doing if it's something you'll definitely use. And it's families who would no doubt benefit more from buying larger packs of stuff, unless you can freeze the items of course.
There are all kinds of products included in the promotion, from fresh meat and fish, to pasta, snacks and cleaning products. And there are some big brands on offer as part of it, like Birds Eye and McCain.
I was surprised to find that many of the items I bought were not only cheaper than Lidl's standard size products, but worked out cheaper than its rival Aldi too.
A pack of four rump steaks came to £12.99 for example, which works out at £16.24 per kg compared with Aldi's £17.20.
Boneless skinless salmon fillets worked out at £15.20 per kg compared with Aldi's £16.04. And a 1kg bag of fresh gnocchi cost me £2.99, while the same at Aldi comes to £3.50.

Not everything was cheaper. The gammon is the same £6.99 at each supermarket and despite Lidl's hand wash refill pack seeming like a bargain at £1.99 for 1.5 litres, Aldi's comes in slightly cheaper, with its 500ml hand wash costing 59p, or £1.78 for the equivalent 1.5L.
But there's loads more stuff worth picking up too, like huge bags of nuts and coffee, pasta sauces, ice cream lollies and other sweet treats.
And the big brands I bought worked out cheaper than other supermarkets too.
A giant 32-pack of omega 3 Birds Eye Fish Fingers was £3.99, when they're £5 in the likes of Iceland, Asda and Sainsbury's, and a 1.4kg bag of McCain French Fries came to £3.49, when it's £4.30 in Tesco or £3.70 for a smaller 1.2kg bag in Iceland.
Aldi says it offers products and package sizes that customers want in every shop, at prices that can’t be matched by other retailers and has been named Which? Cheapest Supermarket for four years running
Lidl's 'super sized week' is running in stores from April 24 while stocks last.
